About the Role

Casual Disability Community
worker will:
- Provide support to participants to help them reach their full potential with individual personal growth and skill development in the community, as per their NDIS Plan goals;
- Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity, reliability, confidentiality and professionalism when representing U&I Inclusions;
- Apply knowledge gained through qualifications in Disability Specific courses or equivalent;
- Establish and maintain rapport with participants and their families/ carers/Support Co-Ordinator's;
- Undertake a range of active and physically demanding activities with participants;
- When required, assist participants to undertake a range of personal care support with eating and maintaining personal hygiene, during program hours;
- Work within OH&S guidelines for those that require assistance with transfers;
- Be able to work effectively with participants identified as having behavioural concerns, as per their Behavioural Support Plan (BSP)

Skills and experience -
The ideal candidates will have:
- Previous experience supporting people with disabilities will be highly regarded;
- Valid Victorian driver's licence and reliable transport;
- Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR;
- Certificate IV in Disability Services or equivalent will be highly regarded;
- The ability to problem solve and deal with conflict;
- Sensitivity in relation to participants needs;
- The ability to engage participants in a collaborative, positive and respectful manner;
- Commitment to human rights principles;
- The ability to communicate effectively with fellow colleagues, participants, their families and other professionals;
- Experience in or a willingness to learn about how to respond to behaviours of concern;
- Basic computer skills (or willingness to learn);
- Mobile phone with internet access;

Compliance
Casual Positions require a satisfactory Pre-Employment Police Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, WWCC, VicRoads Record Check, and Pre-Employment Medical Assessment if applicable. The successful candidates must be willing to undergo further training and development as required.
